15 Sep Mindset Mastery: Forget What You Feel
Do you say ‘Yes’ to unexpected guests even when you’ve already planned a quiet weekend to just chill?
Are you still staying up late at night to ‘get caught up on work’ even when your body is begging for rest?
Here’s what happens when you allow guilt to lead your decisions: you start living by false urgencies.
Sometimes you have to forget what you feel and remember what you deserve.
The Trap of False Urgencies
False urgencies are those self-created tasks and obligations that trick us into believing they’re essential right now but really, they’re not. They keep you on autopilot, always busy but never fulfilled.
It’s the pile of emails you have to answer before you’ll let yourself leave the office, even though you promised yourself an evening walk.
It’s the way you keep working on weekends to finish “just one more thing,” even though you promised yourself you’d start making time for your family and friends.
It’s the sudden urge to throw in another load of laundry right before bed, even though your body is begging for rest.
The danger of false urgencies is that they rob you of the very moments that restore your energy, nurture your relationships, and align you with what truly matters. And the more you give in to them, the more guilt convinces you that choosing yourself is selfish when really, it’s self-preservation.
Falling Into Freedom
The truth is, the work never ends. There will always be one more thing you could do. You deserve a life that reflects your values not just your obligations.
And since this is what the women in my private community tell me they struggle with, I’m wondering if this is a struggle for you, too.
Are you neglecting your own needs because you feel obligated to say yes to everyone else’s?
Are you giving, and giving, and giving until guilt convinces you that it’s selfish to rest, selfish to play, selfish to choose yourself?
Because here’s what I want you to know: when guilt is running the show, joy takes a backseat.
